Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica is what Science Fiction is all about: Ethics, moral dilemmas, and tough choices, and a couple of super-awesome technology plot-devices to turbo-charge the story-telling delivery.

Sure there are lots of bad robots trying to wipe out humanity (and doing a damn good job of it by the end of episode one). Sure there is a massive spaceship holding what is left of mankind. But none of that makes this a great series. What makes this a great series is the depth of the characters. Their flaws, their passions, their failures, and their beliefs. And how they react to adversity, who they stand up to and what they stand up for. How they evolve, or fail to evolve. Never before has a TV series had so many characters of this depth and managed to so fully explore them without slowing to a grinding halt.

And it’s not just for sci-fi nuts either. Anyone wanting a good story worth experiencing should get a hold of all seasons and make time for 80 episodes of ±45 minutes each (plus specials).
